I started my practice on my own in the Philipsburg Area Hospital in 1995. Photo of Dr. Mackin and his dog JetteWhen the hospital closed in 2006, we bought the “Ziffs” building in downtown Philipsburg. We now have over five tenants in the building, including Dr. Jay Arlick (Oral Surgeon), Dr. Chris Pine of Pine Orthodontics, Dixon Computers, CRC Health Group and my wife’s law office, Joanne P. Mackin, Esq. Our building also houses the first official Philipsburg Business Incubator, Centre County’s first county-sponsored business incubator which invites and supports anyone looking to start a business in Philipsburg. I am especially proud that my building contributes to downtown Philipsburg and attracts people to the downtown area.

I enjoy being a dentist and a small business owner. I am truly proud of my dental practice, my true blue staff, and my patients who are truly salt of the earth and continue to be fun, kind and challenging. Philipsburg has been an awesome place to live and work, and I look forward to continuing to serve the area.

Every year I throw a football party for the P-O High School at the Clear-Centre Pool in Osceola Mills. It is great to see the kids from football, the band, the cheerleaders and all of the coaches, teachers and parents all together. As a former Mountie football player (“Mad Dog”) I don’t want to forget the drama club, so we get pizza to them every year before their productions. I know that my dad John “Jack” Mackin, as the principal of P-O High for many years, would have loved to see all of the progress over the years.
